         Mission Statement of the
 Southwest Alberta Business Development Centre

The purposes of the Southwest Alberta Business Development Centre are:

  1. To work with the individuals and communities in our region in the areas of community and economic development.
  2. To assist in the creation of additional permanent private sector employment through the provision of advisory and investment services to small businesses

Our Centre is involved in community and economic development. As a Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC), we lend our resources to the communities that we service. The Community Futures program is an economic renewal initiative that is rooted firmly at the community level, and is focused on building local capacity as a means of assisting rural communities to deal with economic change.

One of our primary goals is to foster entrepreneurial development by providing both financial and technical support to new and existing small businesses. We work with youth, entrepreneurs with disabilities, existing or new small businesses as well as home based businesses.

In addition, our centre works on many community projects and initiatives that play an important and vital part in empowered and improving the communities that we serve.

The Southwest Alberta Business Development Centre is:

  • Non-profit and community-based
  • Directed by a volunteer board of directors
  • Staffed with business professionals
  • User-friendly business assistance, both technical and financial
  • Proactive, progressive and dedicated to strengthening our communities
